It's been awhile since I used Graphic 45 paper.... like a whole week I think!! lol Anyway, I was at a thrift store and saw this great box. I loved the shape, and immediatley thot of my Olde Curiosity Shoppe paper sitting at home. My brain went into motion.....
So this is the before.... beautiful treasure chest, with a funky angle.
Inside was old velvet, which I ripped out and put a coat of mod podge on to seal the little fibers left over from the velvet. While that layer was drying I worked on the inside of the lid. I cut out the border of one of the papers, and then cut a piece out of the sides to make it shorter so it would fit in the lid.
I used Mod Podge for covering the box. First I covered the sides and wrapped the paper onto the top a bit so the top layer would lock in the edges.
Notice my phone on the lid, I placed all the flowers and bling and rearranged until it looked full enuff, then I took a picture, so I could remove all the embellishments and place them again with glue. For all the embelly's I used fabritac, and believe me, they are on their good and strong!
Yes, there is a bit of fussy cutting involved here. On the front, the roller skate, and girl were fussy cut out, and I extended them onto the lid.
Lots of fussy cut butterflies. After everything was glued and dried I went back and put Crystal Stickles on all the butterflies. Then I added Blue, and green onto the feathers, and the girl has cinnamon stickles in her hair and dress.
I needed these eyes to be front and center, so they went right across the latch.
Close up of the details.
Top of the box, the oddities sticker got a coat of glossy acccents too, and a nice book plate. I added some stickles to the edges of some of the flower petals too.
Gloria at work counted the embellishments in this corner... at least 50!!!
Here's a close up, there are Prima flowers, Tim Holtz metals, Bo Bunny pieces, Jesse James buttons, and random trinkets from all over.
The inside is lined with one of the papers, and a couple of fussy cut images. The bottom is lined with SEI's velvet paper.
And my favorite part, the inside of the lid.
Some Prima flourishes, fussy cut butterflies, and what's an apothecary without bottles?
I had to do it... I added a light bulb and colored it with copics so it looks like it's turned on.
This was so fun to do, and there are so many pretty paper lines that would work for this project. Any box can be covered, Graphic 45 has 2 different size boxes, or a cigar box, or comb your local thrift shop and see what treasure you can dress up and make unique. There are so many awesome metals and flowers to add too, it's endless!
Hop over to Scrapbookers Paradise to see a list of supplies.
