Waiting Scrapbook Layout!

Karla here today with a scrapbook layout I made using a kit I put together from some older collections in my stash. I recently joined the Mercy Tiara's 27 Day Scrappy Challenge Facebook Group, where Tracy Banks, aka Mercy Tiara, posts a challenge each month and you have 27 days to participate. Even if you aren't participating in the challenge there is lots of inspiration and ideas. I've been watching her videos for quite some time - they are really great! Full of lots of tips and I just love her layouts and pocket pages. The challenge this month is to use an old collection kit, and you can find the video where she explains everything here.

I've been meaning to make up a few kits from older papers and supplies I have had for quite a while, and this was just the inspiration I needed. Of course, I LOVE buying new goodies, but I also want to make sure I'm using what I have too!

For my 'old kit collection' I pulled out some old Pink Paislee papers from the Sweetness Collection which includes a sticker sheet and alpha stickers.

Then, I added in a really old CTMH collection because I liked the B sides and felt they would match well with the colours in the Pink Paislee collection.

And, lastly, I grabbed some October Afternoon ephemera, some Maggie Holmes diecuts and Glitz paper layers. I felt like the papers, stickers and diecuts I gathered together gave me enough to pull from and liked the way they coordinated together.

So.... Here's my first page using my kit! I wanted to keep working on my youngest daughter Erica's baby book so these are the photos I'm going to focus on using this month. I love this background paper and didn't want to cover it all up, so I just chose to add some layers and leave the pretty background edges showing.

I used a waterbrush and Distress Ink to create a brushed lettering title for my page. Then, I took a black pen and highlighted areas of the letters to make it stand out a little more.

I wrote my journaling right on the page. I realized I forgot to erase my pencil lines for this photo... oops!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I'll definitely be creating more pages with this kit, and I feel like I'll be pulling more kits together to use up a lot more of my stash!
