Wild Whisper Kit Blitz 4 with Marcia

Hi Guys my summer of 1997 returns with our trip to the Hoodoos. I wanted to have a cool background like the hoodoos so I created my own.

  I took a piece of tissue paper and sprayed it with various TH sprays including Ground Espresso, Spiced Marmalade, the metallics and a few others.
 I also added ribbon for another texture that I inked with TH Tea Dye, Worn Lipstick and Blue Jean. I also scrunched everything up before gluing it down.

 I made my own Hoodoos by ripping up a light brown piece of card stock. These were then inked with TM Walnut, Vintage Photo and Lemonade. I added blue photo mats and orange titles and arrows to make things pop. Also added the ribbon from the kit around the 2 people in my picture to draw them closer and a navigational brad. I also used brown Dew Drops for more depth and something shiny.

 I did this as a double layout. Everything is pretty much the exact same. My title I layered so it stands out. This photo is by itself as my grandma reminded me of her memories and I want to add the story. As kids of 16, 13 and 11 we dared grandma (who at the time was in her 50's) to go down the 600 foot slope and back up. Well she did and quite quickly too much to our shock! It was a good day that is for sure!

Kit Blitz 3 Wild Whisper with Marcia

Hi guys. I am still stuck in the past. It has been great working on these old photos. It has brought back many memories and started conversations. My grandma even shared a story I had forgotten (more about that on another layout). This layout is pretty simple because I wanted to get multiple photos on it.

I started with a blue card stock background this time. I have been trying to make my pages lighter so this time I cut out the centre, and I now have another piece to use for something else. I layer on a piece of patterned paper, and cut out another piece of card stock.

Next I got all my pieces ready to go.

 This piece I used for the date is the leftover piece from when I made the punch out for layout #1. I have a habit of keeping all my bits and finding somewhere to use them.

 The leaves from the kit needed a little extra, so they got stamped with a random pattern. I just picked up the closest stamp and down it went with TH Peeled Paint Ink.

 My tag is a leftover from another project. It had a number on 1 side but the other was blank, so I flipped it over, and again used TH Peeled Paint Ink.

Assembly happened last. I added my journaling to the tag. Some TH Arrows to the top corner and some pearls from the kit that I have used alcohol ink to change the colour. I have no title for this page but it will find a happy home in my album.

Wild Whisper Kit Blitz 3 with Marcia

Hi Guys, I am back at it with more photos from 1997.  This turned out to be one of the best summers of my childhood. My grandparents took my sister, cousin and myself out touring around Southern Alberta. Amazing!!!

Today I wanted to make my own background. So I used sticky powder and foil paper at the top of my page to make a sky.

 And, the results are in... I really liked it. I think I will do this again  Next I cut out a whole bunch of trees and made a treeline.

They were inked with TH Peeled Paint and Hickory Smoke cut in 2 different sizes. The lower trees are popped up at the top to give some dimension. After these were glued down I added ribbon to the bottom of the tree line, added my title 'adventure' from the kit and added my bear (this wasn't in the kit but can be purchased at the store!) I also added a compass brad by my title. I used photo mats for my photos as the background was busy and I wanted to ground my photos. I only taped the sides down and inserted a journal card behind to keep track of my memories. Last but not least was the words 'my tribe'!

Wild Whisper Kit Blitz '2' with Marcia

Hi Guys, I'm back with the limited edition 'Wild Whisper Adventure Kit'  !  Have you ever lain awake and not been able to fall asleep? This happened to me this week. (this is very rare) My mind went to scrapbooking, determined to keep me awake. I was thinking of how I wanted to showcase the photo of my grandpa from 1997. It was only one and a half years after the photo was taken that he passed away. This is really the only photo I have of him.

I was thinking that I wanted to expand my horizon and used the green paper with the splatters.

I decided to use the paint I have on hand and it was a great match for this kit. I did buy the tree stencil this week from Selena and have the Tim Holtz dies from winter.

 For me when I am using a stencil I find it easier to 'tape' the piece down so it doesn't wiggle, I use washi tape to do this as it peels of easy. While doing this layout I couldn't find a paintbrush so I used my ink blending tool to apply the brown paint to the tree stencil. After it was dry, I wanted more texture and a different colour. I don't have many stencils so I used 1 of the dies as a stencil. Use what you have is what I am trying to do. The next layer is green on the triangle (hard to see in the photo you may have to go into the shop to see ). Next I used the white and blue and Tim's nifty splatter brush to add some splatters. It matched the paper.

While all of this way drying I cut out, sanded and inked some corrugated paper for the corners. I put my photo in a flip page so that I could hide my journaling and added it to a card stock photo mat. I covered up the flip part with bits and some ribbon. To make the photo pop I added white using another die and small white hearts. The photo is popped up.

April Wild Whisper Adventure Kit Blitz '1' with Marcia

Hi Guys. This month Selena asked me (Marcia) to work with the

Wild Adventure kit. It is absolutely fabulous!!

 I am really excited to see where my adventure takes me haha.

For this first layout I did a single as my week didn't quite go as planned.

 To start, for me I always look at the paper and then find a page sketch that I want to try out for inspiration. I use a lot of page maps!

Next was the photos. My adventure was going to be camping 2 years ago but something got me nostalgic and I looked through old photos. Low and behold I had some from my first trip to Banff in 1997. Granted the photos aren't  the best quality but they are a great memory.

 My next step was to cut up a pepsi can. This became my mountains on the layout.  I embossed them with a pattern and I also used the shabby blue embossing powder to give them a snowy look.

 Next I used the green embossing powders in a shade from my photo to make a couple of trees. I started by cutting them out and using a random swirl folder to add dimension (only 1 made it to this page).

 I used my Frame Punch Board to make the blue frame and used the left overs for the corners on the other photo.

I used a die to make the banner journal spot as I have one. But, you could cut one with scissors.

 Once all of my elements were ready, out came the tape and down they went.

 I added a Tim Holtz arrow (double popped up) and popped up the blue frame photo. My title is also popped up and pretty simple as I usually can't think of anything catchy to call the pages.

I had random words for rest of the title.

I used the jewels from the kit as well in the top right corner.

 I really, really like colour so I used my alcohol inks to change the jewels.

 

Well making a mess doing this I wished I had alcohol markers to make it easier!! Thanks for sharing this adventure with me. I can't wait to get busy with the rest of the papers and see what happens. Stay tuned.
