Sizzix Cards with Selena, April 7, S

 

Sizzix cards x 3 with Selena (and a wee bit of spellbinders Tim has some kewl new sizzix products. In this class we will be playing with an embossed image, new lustrous paste, foil, and inking to make three fun cards.  It's time for all the Gypsy Hearted to jump in the camper and go!

 Sizzix has a new die that is just perfect

for this 3-D camper. Instead of the chipboard cut out, I used

poker chips for wheels. Just secure inside with a hot

glue gun before you decorate

I used white glue to secure the  pieces together.
that's why it has a rubber band holding it overnight to dry.

If I do it again. I will use a hot glue gun.

Note I had to adjust the pattern a bit as I

 used a light weight cardboard.

 If you use chipboard you should not have to adjust,

 only assemble the pieces. .

 

 I used scraps from a Bo Bunny layout for this project

It needed a little Gypsy banner on the back.

Add some silver yarn to the seams, jewels for lights

Use your imagination, add an awning. 

I ran some metallic paper through

the cuttle bug to give it a bit of texture



 Highlighted the screw ends with a dark marker

I replaced the original chipboard hitch cutout with

the ends from cheap foam brushes. Note the circle

placement marks on the front of the camper. I used

the end of a regular pin to secure the 'ball' to the arms.

These are from Prima sold as door knobs.

 Clip the closure end off of your pin.

Double back the ends with a pair of pliers leaving

them slightly larger than the opening. Push them into the

opening where the foam brush formerly was. 

 Cover all pieces with embossing fluid, I used a

silver to replicate that old chrome look.
NOTE: The metal ball holds the heat so set it
aside to cool down before handling.

Carefully score the hole with a blade in X or* fashion.

Test gently till the ends of your hitch poles

will slide inside with just a bit of resistance.
 

Have fun. This Retro Camper / Gypsy Caravan

is a fun project. You could use a simpler version

for party favors, a fantastic kids party craft.
Just pre assemble the shell and have them decorate
With  a selection of precut fun papers.

Leave the back open and decorate the entire inside?.

Family Reunion

 Wow what a blur the past 10 days have been! Between Stampede and our family reunion smack dab in the middle of it all, it was BUSY!! It was hard to select a starting point for the scrapbook, with piles of pictures surrounding me... but I decided to start at the beginning... of the reunion anyway. Here is my title page for the next scrapbook....

I gathered up all the items I wasnted to try and use... I think I fit them all in too? 

I needed an extra piece of this BoBunny paper, so I cut out the center where the photo will cover it, and I have a piece big enuff to use where I need it. 

 The Reunion letters are cut out of the Sizzix Die, using chipboard, and then heat embossed with Stampendous aged Aqau, I love these embossing powders, they have beautiful shades and I love the rustic mix of the metal and color!! The brads are from Bo Bunny's camp alot line.

 We were at a cabin in Montana so I needed some trres around us, I used the sizzix die, pine tree, and the year tab is from tiny tabs and tabs die.

 Little Yellow Bicycle came out with these awesome wooden tags with different sayings on them, I used 2 of the 4 that came in the package. I also inked them with wild honey distress ink, so they weren't so white. Any border punch can make a nice addition strip to a page, I use them quite often.

And here is my finished page. Along the side I have the 4 family names, attached with a brad, and behind the word reunion, is the piece I cut out of the background, and flipped it to the reverse side. I also inked the edge, and used the wild honey to color all the white name tags.

Lucky 8 Punch

I saw this new punch the other day, and was intrigued by it. It is HUGE! but oh so kewl! with 8 quick punches you can cut out your own 12x12 die cut page. There are quite a few different patterns, and 3 ways to cut. This may be hard to explain, so I'll give you We R Memory Keepers words. "Transform paper with the easy-to-use Lucky 8 Punch. In as little as 8 punches around the paper, ordinary paper becomes unique and decorative. It combines a corner and boarder punch in one tool to create an outer cut, inner cut, or a combination of both." Sounds great right?  So I meant to do all three different designs, but got ahead of myself... lol this is what I came up with anyway. I have one thing to say... it's FUN!

The one that I used is the "Retro Scallop"

 I punched a plain white piece of paper, put a screen over the paper and sprayed glimmer mist, then removed the screen and sprayed a second color over the white.

 Yes, that is one of Timmy's new dies.... the Vintage Telephone, and it's awesome!

 We got a mixed bag of Prima flowers, all 3 pages have flowers from the same bag. Prima bird house, and Sizzix elegant flourishes die. 

 This scalloped edge is more behind the scenes, but I love working with the altered paper!

 Really! I got flowers with spiders on them, I was a bit excited and couldn't wait to use them, a whole 3 days after Comic Con!

 Some random cardstock spiders covered with glossy accents to make them look like resin buttons.

 And for this page I only used half the circle and will use the other piece on the double page layout side.

I can has Sunbeam?

Happy Wednesday everyone! Please forgive me for what I'm about to say, in the page I designed for today I realized after the fact that the paper line I used just went to sale.... :-(  But..... there are 2 new fascinating products that I wanted to show you, so I posted the page anyway. This was a very busy weekend with Camp Croppin, AND Calgary Expo ( our version of Comicon ) so I will show you the page, and I will also be posting some pics from Camp Croppin put on by Scrapbooker's  Paradise, and it was a phenomenal event!!!

 This is my wonderful cat Lucky laying in a sunbeam.... oh to have a cat's life!!

This is Lyndy's embossing powder. We went to a class the other night to learn about Lyndy's product and WOW! First thing that amazed me was when the embossing powder was poured onto a piece of cardstock, in  a little pile, and then heated from UNDERNEATH, that's not a typo! And notice I didn't say to use any versa mark for this way to do this embellishment. Now that the powder is hot and melted, stamp into right away with a RUBBER stamp, and you have a very kewl effect. What is hard to see in this photo, is how shimmery this powder is! Beautiful colors!! I love it!

Next is the new Tim Holtz die that I have been waiting for, ( ok I wait for all of them ) but this one is my favorite!!

 It has the whole alphabet, and numbers and an & symbol!! So imagine, being able to cut letters to match any layout, ( yes a cricut will do this ) but.... because it is the big die, you could put up to 3 - 5 pieces of cardstock or patterend paper, or a piece of chip board, or magnet or plastic.... or, or, or, anyway, back to the cardstock, if I ran a few pieces thu' I bet I could spell anything I wanted to, without running out of letters! And in perfect Tim form, the letters are an awesome fun font!! Plus I could start my own little alphabet drawer for extras!

Spring is for Butterflies

Hello All! It's time for the new featured product. Between April 16 - 30 1" Score Tape is on sale. Regular 

price $ 11.99 on sale for $9.99. If you are ordering online please quote "FIST" in the comments section of your order. Score Tape comes in many sizes and also sheets, and has many uses! Aside from being a great adhesive it's fun to use with glitter!

First step was cut a piece of plastic approximately the size of my die.I needed a little wider than 1" so I just added a small piece. There are wider tapes available, I just didn't have one on hand today.

Next, get my die ready, in this case the Easter Findings by Sizzix, I love the butterfly on this die!

Cut out my butterfly...

With a light touch using my Prima blade I cut strips into the backing of the tape so I could reveal the sticky parts bit by bit, and make my pattern. You could draw, or use a pattern, I just free handed  some simple markings.

Then I used the microfine glitters, and covered the sticky part with a color of choice.

Then I cut more slits in the backing of the tape....

and used a second color. You could make this as intricate or simple as you choose.

Then I peeled the last of the backing, used my third color and I have a pretty embellishment for one of my Jamaica pages!

Before I get onto the Glimmer Mist, I thot I would answer a question that I get asked daily. " What do I do with chip board?" Here are just a few ways to accent your chip board....

 I have cut out a few flowers and flourishes with the Tim Holtz dies, elegant flourishes and tattered florals.

I cut out a patterened piece of paper ( Glitz in this case ) and glued it to the chipboard flourish with zig 2 way glue.

the next one I used Distress ink to color the flourish

you can add different colors, or spray it with water to give it more of a distressed look.

and then inked with distress ink

after inking it I added glossy accents

or stickles

and last but not least I sprayed it with glimmer mist. There are a few ideas to to color your chip board, there are many many more!
