"Alcohol Ink" Make and Take With Crystal July 7, North

I am thrilled to be kicking off the fun summer Make and Take season with one of my new favourite mediums, Alcohol Inks. Come join me in creating a fun Alcohol ink set featuring a cute set from Pink Ink designs that includes a card, tag, and envelope. There will be a variety of alcohol ink colours to choose from and matching card bases so you can pick your favourite colours to work with. We will be learning an easy way to apply alcohol inks and how to stamp alcohol inks using the lift ink stamp pad. Due to the nature of this class, it is not available as a kit. Can't wait to see everyone's smiling faces again in store.

NEW SESSIONS added Crystal's Alcohol ink class, June 18-20-22, North

 

In this newest edition to Crystal's Alcohol ink classes, you will learn how to paint with your alcohol inks to create six cards in total (2 of each card). We will build on each technique starting with creating skies and rolling hills, then adding in more defined cloudy skies, and finally adding in a birch tree focal image. The class fee includes one alcohol ink blender pen. You will need two blue (Denim/Monsoon and Pool or aquamarine), one green (Meadow), two browns (Espresso and Latte/caramel), and pitch black alcohol ink and a fine tip Sharpie permanent marker or Copic Multi liner. There will be inks available to purchase the day of class.  Wearing old clothing and bringing a pair of nitrate gloves is encouraged. Please call the North Store at 403-455-6772 to register. Getting Inky With Alcohol "The Trilogy" Class May 12-20-21-21, North

Are you ready to get inky again? or did you miss the last alcohol ink class? Well, you are in luck! Crystal has created a third alcohol ink class as requested by many (no previous classes needed). In this class we will be exploring different surfaces to use alcohol inks, alcohol pearls, mixative a and alloys on to create using a variety of tools. We will also explore alcohol lift ink and be making a flower card on black alcohol ink cardstock. You will leave with an instruction sheet so you can replicate the looks at home and complete 7 cards. It is advised that you bring a pair of gloves and wear an old shirt just because we will be getting messy. You will need some alcohol inks, pearls, an alloy and a snowcap mixative for class. Alcohol Ink Gift Set Class With Crystal, May 6 North

Have you been interested in learning about Alcohol inks and want to get a small taste before jumping into
one of the larger technique classes? or are you interested in creating a beautiful art piece to keep or give to a friend? Then this alcohol ink gift set class is a good place to start. Crystal is still having fun getting inky with her alcohol inks and decided to create a smaller class where you will create one stunning art hardboard panel plaque and a matching card with envelope using some of the new Spellbinders dies and of course her favorite Lawn Fawn dies. It is advised that you bring a pair of gloves and wear an old shirt just because we will be getting messy. Crystal will have inks available to use but encourages you to bring your favorite colors to customize your piece of art.

Colorized Gladys the Flamingo Frames Class with Crystal, April 11, N

Crystal has been at it again! This time she has Gladys the Flamingo enjoying a splash in the water.  If you, have you always been intimidated by the colorized dies by Tim Holtz, Crystal will help break it down layer by layer, with color coordinated directions. She will walk you through step-by-step and give you some tips and tricks along the way to make these dies a breeze. We will be inking the background and pairing her with some Lawn Fawn die cut grass and cattails to really make her pop out of the frame. You will also be given feathers so you can add some extra sass to her if you want. Please note that frame color may vary depending on availability and the class only includes one frame. Getting Inky With Alcohol "The Sequel" Class, with Crystal April 9 or 23, N

Are you ready to get inky again? or did you miss the last alcohol ink class? Well, you are in luck! Crystal

has created a sequel to her popular alcohol ink class as requested by many. In this class we will be using alcohol inks, alcohol pearls, and alloys to create marbleized backgrounds, stenciled and printed backgrounds, bubbled backgrounds, lift ink backgrounds, and inky flowers. You will leave with an instruction sheet so you can replicate the looks at home and complete 8 cards. It is advised that you bring a pair of gloves and wear an old shirt just because we will be getting messy and you will need inks in the following colors:

A purple alcohol pearl ink, 
A blue alcohol pearl ink
 a yellow alcohol ink
 a brown alcohol ink
and an alloy (Crystal used the Rose alloy).

Retro Lawn Fawn Class with Crystal February 28 N

Crystal's favorite thing to do is mix-up two favorite brands to make fun and quirky cards. In this class we will create three retro cute cards featuring Elizabeth Craft's Retro Bus and some of Lawn Fawn's cute critters. We will also be learning how to incorporate wax seals into our cards. A Card for all Seasons Class with Crystal February 16 N

Come create four seasonal inspired cards using one of Honey Bee Stamps cute critter images. One of the

cards is a shaker card and the other three demonstrate how you can take one image and create three additional looks just by changing the layout slightly. We will also focus on how to add folds when coloring clothing to add dimension. Full color instructions will be provided for you to reference after the class to remember what we did. Make and Take with Crystal December 30th N

 It's the last Make and Take of the year and this week it is "Stinkin' Cute!" Come and create a mini slimline card complete with decorative gift card holder inside and see how easy it is to colour these adorable images using Derwent Inktense pencils. No coloring experience is needed! Please bring a water brush or paint brush, and your adhesive with you to complete the card, Crystal will provide the rest. Make and Take with Crystal December 23 N

If you need a break from holiday makes, this week's Make and Take is just for you. Come and see how easy it can be to color this adorable image using distress re-inkers and add some fun finishing touches to the background using embossing folders and Distress Crayons. Please bring a water brush or paint brush, and your adhesive with you to complete the card. Book your time at either 10am, 11am, 12 noon, or 1pm by emailing Crystal at cr_awol@hotmail.com. Resin Pour MOULD Class with Crystal December 8th N

Cost: $25 plus tax (Includes your own Prima Watercolour Florals mould to take home)

Come learn how easy it is to make your own resin embellishments using silicon moulds and casting resin with Crystal. The price of the class includes your own Prima Watercolour florals mould to take home. You will use your mould to create one whole set of resin embellishments and then learn a few ways to finish them for your projects. Crystal does recommend that you wear an older shirt for this class as it can be a little messy when you are learning.  Call the NORTH store at 403-455-6772 to register. PLEASE NOTE: This class cannot be made into a kit, it has to be done in person due to the materials we are using.

 

Harrison the Lion Colorized Frames Class with Crystal November 20 N

Crystal has been at it again! Take and Make Kits Only by Crystal August 26th S

The holiday season is just around the corner so Crystal decided it was time to get cracking on making those holiday cards. For this Take and make you will be creating one card featuring a retro TV with a winters scene complete with envelope. To complete the card you will need a brown, black or grey, red, and green water-based medium and coloured pencils or alcohol based markers to colour the scene. Don’t care for colouring, leave the image an old fashioned black and white. Please note sentiments may vary.

For this week’s make and take we will be learning two quick and easy messy painting techniques with Distress Oxide inks to create a stunning floral card and a tag you can turn into a card at home. You will have a number of sentiments to choose from and the kit is complete with an envelope. Please email crystalroefs@hotmail.com to let Crystal know what time you would prefer (10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3, or 4) and how many kits you would like. You will need adhesive and a small paintbrush. If you are unable to attend just let Crystal know which store you will be picking up from but please note they MUST be PRE-PAID in advance. These can be done with a watercolour medium or pencil crayon for take and makes.

For this week’s make and take we will be using Simon Hurley’s stamping foam to create an inky background for our sweet little fairy silhouette complete with glittery wings and a crystal orb. Crystal will have a variety of sentiments for you to choose from. Mintay Mini Album Class with Crystal August 14th N

 

Class: Mintay Mini Album Location: North Store IN CLASSROOM Date: August 14th Time: 10-5 (With an hour lunch break) Cost: $75 plus tax Crystal fell in love with the Mintay Nightfall paper line as soon as she saw it and felt like a mini album was the best way to show off the beauty of this stunning paper. We will be altering a 49th and Market Foundations album to add flaps, pockets, and little hide-aways to tuck photos, journaling cards, tags, and memorabilia. Then we will finish the front cover using resin pieces and Prima metallic waxes. You will also be provided with a cut apart sheet and matching cardstock to mat photos and make the album your own. Space is limited due to availability of albums so payment upon registration is required to reserve your spot. Call the North Store at 403-455-6772 register.
