A Flip Book for Allison!

Karla here today, and I have a flip book to share with you! These are just so fun to make when you want to play with different supplies and techniques. This is a book I swapped with a sweet girl, Allison - you can find her IG here with links to her YouTube channel - and she sent me the cutest flip book too! I used Project Life cards as my base and attached them with washi tape. I embossed a pretty sentiment with gold embossing powder, and used some soft pink crinkly ribbon to tie the outside. I love adding my recipients name on the front to personalize it even more!

Here's a look at all the pages I included. I added stickers, paper ephemera, handmade tags, 3x4 journaling cards as smaller flaps, stamps, doilies and sequins, along with some goodies for Ally to use!

A+ Teacher Card!

Hi there crafty friends!! Karla here today, sharing a teacher card today using a Stamping Bella teacher stamp I've had in my stash for quite some time now - but still love! I actually made this for my daughter's teacher at the end of the year in June, but I think it could totally be used for a September new teacher card!

I stuck with a pretty basic design on a 5.5"x 5.5" top folding card base, using some BoBunny papers along with the blue and white polka dot paper. I love the primary colour scheme!

I used some Prismacolor and Hobby Colour Markers, which are alcohol based to colour in my image before mounting it on some red patterned paper. The shiny blue pearls from 28 Lilac Lane add just the right shimmer and matched perfectly. I was so excited to see that Selena had them in her store and online!

Inside, I used some cute sentiments that came with the set!

There's something fun about a top folding card!

Distress Stains and Kraft Resist!

Hi Crafty Friends! Karla back today with an inky card I made while watching the Day 5 video from Tim Holtz' Creative Chemistry 101. This was such a great refresher and I can't wait to try out all the other techniques. This card focuses on using Distress Stains and stamping.

I started off by cutting a piece of the 12x12 Kraft Resist paper pad into a 4 x 5.25" piece and first adding a light layer of Picket Fence Distress Stain. Then I added Worn Lipstick and Shaded Lilac and dried my background. You can see the resist script standing out below.

Next I took Distress Inks and blended them onto my background. I love how this adds another layer of inky fun!

I used a grey shade of Archival Ink to stamp this Tim Holtz man with the umbrella and used - my new favourite! background stamps to stamp around the edges. I added some Utee to some stamped images to add a bubbly, watery effect. I find if you heat the image from behind it will melt easier without blowing the powder around.

Here's a look at the envelope where I used some coordinating Tim Holtz stencils and stamps. You can also see how the resist really shows up after layering on some Distress Inks! I added a little banner, popped up with foam dots, with a couple more Distress stains blended onto the Kraft paper and a Tim Holtz sentiment stamp using Black Archival Ink.

Distress Crayon Resist Card!

I am so loving my Distress Crayons! Karla here today to share this pretty spring card with you.

 I used the white Distress Crayon and a circle stencil as a resist on this card. After stenciling on my white card base I sponged on Distress Inks and then used some Tim Holtz stamps to stamp over top. I love the way the Crayons resist the inks!

I used my Inks again to colour my seam binding ribbon (Selena can order this in for you!) so it blended perfectly with my card. A little paper flower in coordinating colours and a couple heart sequins finishes it off.

St. Patrick's Day Pocket Letter!

Karla here today! I've had fun this year crafting a bit more for St. Paddy's day, and this pocket letter is something I created to send to a friend!

I used my Cricut Explore to cut lots of St. Patrick's Day images from, which I layered on some pretty background papers. I added stamping, sequins, glitter tape and gems to add some lucky shine! I had two pieces of St. Paddy's paper in my stash, and other than that just combined green patterns with diecuts to create this fun pocket letter.

How cute is this leprechaun from the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge?! You can see another project I used his 'brother' on here.

The Spring Holiday Cards cartridge worked perfectly to cut into just the right size to fit in my pockets. They would also work for a Project Life page!

I cut the pot of gold from the St. Patrick's Day cartridge. By using a piece of cardstock that already had a black distressed pattern on it I created a neat look for my pot.

On the back I added some diecuts, flowers, stamped images, glitter tape, gems, a note about myself, sequins, lucky stars and doilies! Lots of fun goodies for my pal!

Distress Crayon Tutorial!

Karla here today, and since I picked up the Most Awesome Distress Crayons from Selena's truck last week I just had to share how I made this card with them!

I started off by taking a piece of Specialty Stamping paper, which is a little glossy and helped me move the crayons around a bit, but you could use a piece of white cardstock as well. I found some Heidi Swapp stencils, and for the polka dots and hexagons I rubbed the crayon directly through the stencil. I rubbed a bit of the other crayons on the white areas and smudged it with my finger. Then, I took a baby wipe and wiped through the stencils to create a negative effect.

I used one of the crayons to edge around the piece of cardstock and then gently smudged it with my finger to blend it around the edge. I used my new Hero Arts Neon Ombre ink pad to stamp on these Tim Holtz butterflies and then embossed them with clear Crystal embossing powder, which has a bit of shimmer in it. Another Tim Holtz sentiment stamp added detail to the front of the my piece, stamped in grey Archival Ink.

 Here's a close up of the finished piece. I added a bit of Pink Distress Marker inside the butterflies and a couple pink flowers at the bottom. I used the Distress Crayons to add colour to my seam binding ribbon, which Selena can get in by the roll! This is really my favourite ribbon. After rubbing it on I sprayed it with water and then rubbed it with my finger to blend it. The crayons don't automatically blend with water like the inks, but do blend when you manipulate them.
