Watercolour Whimsy with Crystal Online May 21

Instructor: Crystal Sign up cut off date: May 18th Kits Available and Video links sent: May 21st Cost: $20 Class description: Come join Crystal in the wonderful world of watercolour. This is a great class for beginners or seasoned "water colourists" alike. I will walk you through how to create three cute and whimsical cards using stamps from My Favourite things and Concord & 9th and finishing them off with some sparkle and bling. I have sanitized my work area, tools, and hands while making all kits and they are in sealed packages for you to help keep everyone safe.   How Crystal's Online classes work: Step 1: Call into the store at 403-455-6772 to register. to sign up for the class you would like to attend and make payment for the class by the sign-up deadline. Step 2: Make sure you give a current and valid email address during registration. Video links are sent this way for the virtual online class. Step 3: Crystal will check every Friday during sign up time and will email out a list of additional supplies you may want/need. Curbside pick up is a quick and convenient way to get both kits and purchases while limiting contact during this time. Step 4: If you require or want any supplies from the emailed list, you can order online or call the store to order and make payment. The lovely ladies of the store can pull the supplies (As long at they are in stock) and fulfill your order before you go to collect the card kits. Please note that Selena does her best to have the supplies on-hand but due to demand she may need to order them in. Please allow time for that. She is also quite busy keeping things running smoothly for all of us so giving her some advanced notice would be helpful and appreciated so she has enough time to gather items for you. Please note that some of the stamp sets used are a special order and may take extra time to come into the store. Order early to get them in sooner. Step 5: Collect your card kits and supplies from the store on or after May 21st. Step 6: Crystal will send out a link in an email by end of day May 21st to the online virtual classroom. Please do not share these links with others unless permission from her has been granted. Step 7: Watch, pause, rewind, and/or fast forward through the videos and make cute projects from the comfort and safety of your own home.

SIMPLE WATERCOLOR CARDS with Dianne April 18

Dianne will be teaching you how to watercolor with the very simplest of watercolors! She has never taught using these watercolors before. Simple, fun, and quick to do! We will make 10 cards and will have lots of choices to make them the colors you want! These cards are a bit smaller but oh so cute! They also come in a box, ready to give as a gift or use for yourself!  A set of inexpensive watercolors is all she will be using! A very fun and free flowing class! No experience required!
You will get 10 cards to do,
 but can paint as many as you want, or take the rest home!

Christmas Card Set!

Hey crafty friends! Karla here today to share a set of 6 Christmas Cards! I watercoloured the stamped images using Distress and Tombow markers and then used some embossing powder to glitter up the edges and added some pretty embossed snowflakes. I finished them up with some sequins and stamped images and now I'm 6 cards ahead of the game!

Embossed Resist Card with Color Burst!

Hey crafty friends! Karla here today, and I hope you all had a lovely weekend and the week has started off great :) Today I'm sharing a card I made using the Emboss Resist technique. It's like magic every time I do it!

I started out by taking a stamp and inking it with Versamark Ink. After stamping on watercolor paper I heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I tapped my Color Burst powders directly onto my craft mat before spritzing with water to make an intense watercolour palette and then painted them directly onto the watercolor background. So easy!!

I added some bakers twine around a metal embellishment and added some sequins to finish it off.

Making Art with Distress Crayons and Prima Watercolor Coloring Book!

Karla here today, and I am so happy to share this project with you! I fell in love with the Prima Watercolor Pad that came out at CHA and decided to use my new Distress Crayons with it - and I'm so pleased with the results!

The Prima pad is full of gorgeous 8x10 watercolour colouring pages - just waiting for you to use whatever watercolouring medium you choose! I simply had to try out my Distress Crayons by drawing directly on the colouring page

The crayons glide on beautifully and then I simply used my waterbrush to blend the colour in, mixing some of the crayons together.

 After I finished watercolouring in the page I smooshed Distress Inks on my craft mat, spritzed with water, and used a clear piece of packaging to pick up the inky colour before 'smooshing' it onto my page. Love this effect!

I picked up a dollar store frame and decorated it with flowers, sequins, pearls, charms, buttons and ribbon! It will be easy to replace this page with another whenever I want to!

Here's a close up of the lovely colour these Distress Crayons achieve!

More lovely embellishments to decorate my frame! 

This worked perfectly to replace the Easter decorations I had on my hutch. I'm just so happy with the results!

Drink Me, Tea Cup Card!

Karla here today to share a card made with a sweet stamp I picked up from the Scrapendipity Truck at the make 'n take last week. I just love the Gorjuss Girl stamps and had to have this little one in a tea cup!

I stamped on watercolour paper with Archival Ink and then used Distress Markers to watercolour my image in and used some Teresa Collins papers for my background, matching my markers to the papers. I used the white Distress Marker to add some polka dots.

Inside, I added this single sweet little bunny, which I also watercoloured. A little Abandoned Coral Distress Marker adds a little touch of pink to his ears and cheeks.

This card and the colours remind me of Spring - and I seem to be thinking more and more that I am ready for winter to be over!

Mini Distress Ink Watercolour Technique!

The kids are back to school and our routines are back to normal, though we all enjoyed Christmas holidays very much! I finally got a little time to sit down and play and try out a new watercolouring technique that I saw in a magazine.

I started by cutting my watercolour paper to 4 x 5.25" to fit on an A2 card with a bit of a border. Then I got out my Distress Mini Ink pads. I don't have a lot of the minis - I just started buying them last year with the new colour releases each month. I must say I really love them though. They're great to take along to a class and I just love the little tin holder. I chose 3 colours that I wanted to use together- Crushed Olive, Twisted Citron and Blueprint Sketch, and lightly pressed them onto the watercolour paper. After I finished putting my ink down I went back with a water brush and coloured over each individual block of colour to give the watercoloured appearance.  I used some grey Archival ink to lightly stamp some Dylusions flowers over top of the background and then stamped a Dylusions border stamp around the edge- lightly adding some colour by scribbling on an acrylic block with a coordinating blue Distress Marker. 

For my tag, I stamped a Prima Doll by Julie Nutting and the Eiffel Tower on watercolour paper and watercoloured the images in with Distress Markers. I added some hand drawn lines around the edge and layered the tag on a piece of blue cardstock. A bit of Stickles adds some shimmer. 

Inside, I used the Bonjour sentiment in this Prima set to stamp my greeting and added some watercolouring with the markers again.

Watercolour Technique with Wink Of Stella Pen!

Karla here today, sharing some of the fun techniques I've been working on in the latest Online Card Classes - Watercolor For Cardmakers class. Jennifer McGuire showcased a beautiful gold embossed flower on Day 1 and I wanted to try it with this bird and flower image I have.

I coloured in parts of my image with Distress and Tombow markers and blended them, using my Wink Of Stella pen. My pen was actually empty and I refilled it with water, which mixed with the shimmer still in the pen and it works perfectly! I layered my watercoloured piece on some papers from the Basic Grey Highline Collection on top of a purple card folded to 5 1/2" square.

This wasn't the greatest watercolor paper I had around, so I think it would have blended nicer with a different paper, but I love the gold embossed image!

Cute Owl Tag Card!

Karla back today featuring an owl card using the owl from Small Stamps by Hot Off The Press as well as Dylusions Paints to create a watercolour background and a stamped zig zag with Distress Inks. 

First, I wet my watercolour paper and put some Dylusions Paints in greens and blues on my craft mat. Then, I simply added colour and water where I wanted it. I added a few splatters with my paintbrush after. 

This little owl is so cute! I stamped him on a handcut tag with brown Archival Ink and watercoloured him in with Distress and Tombow markers. After, I added Glossy Accents to his eyes and Stickles to his belly and to the little hearts that came with the set. I used a green eyelet for the top of the tag and some blue and white bakers twine and then popped up the tag with foam dots.

Inside, I used the sentiment included with the set and stamped it on a piece of white cardstock after rounding the corners.

Watercolour Treats Blueprints Card Set!

Karla here today, featuring the Tim Holtz Treats Blueprint stamps! I'm totally in love with these stamps! I used Distress and Tombow Markers to colour my images after I stamped on watercolour paper. To achieve the watercolour look I used a waterbrush to lightly go over the areas I coloured in. Since there are four of these stamps in a set I decided to coordinate them into a set of matching cards. I love how summery and fun they turned out!

Here's a close up look at each one. I added some baker's twine, sequins, glossy accents and Stickles for some extra fun!
