Prima Doll Christmas Tag!

It is definitely getting closer! Everyone is so excited here in our house! There are Elf On The Shelf happenings, cookies being baked, the tree is decorated, lots of Christmas crafting and concerts to get ready for. I usually don't wrap until right at the last minute, but I did want to get started on my Christmas tags! Karla here today, I thought I'd share this cute Prima Doll Christmas tag!

I used the smaller doll from the Merry Nice Christmas stamp set by Julie Nutting, which is a perfect size for cards and tags. I stamped her on a piece of white cardstock and then paper pieced her outfit with Heidi Swapp Believe paper from the 6x6 paper pad. I just love tights with designs on them! I stamped some snowflakes in the background with a blue tone Kaleidoscope ink pad and layered on a paper pieced bell and some holly berries, both from the stamp set. The tree is hand cut from the Believe paper and edged with some green ink and I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the stamp set.

This cute little diecut poinsettia paper clip at the top left of my tag is by Kelly Purkey in the Holiday Clips set that includes steel dies for a Christmas tree, poinsettia and gingerbread man along with coordinating stamps and other Christmas stamps and sentiments. It's so cute!

Here's the back of my tag. I stamped another holly berry on the back and layered on some mini journalling cards from the Believe paper pack before writing To and From. The ribbon at the bottom of my tag is from my stash and was white before I stained it with the new Lucky Clover Distress Stain by Tim Holtz. This colour is yummy!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you're enjoying your Christmas activities and staying cozy and warm.

Fun Friday with Pam

'Mail Art' I like to decorate the envelopes when I am sending to a friend. 'Tis the season as well, how much fun is it to get a personalized letter? You may have seen this technique, but in case you have forgotten, here it is again.
It is fast fun and always rewarding.

Start with a blank white envelope.
Stamp with a stamp you like using clear embossing powder - you could use white if you don't have clear.
Next take a white dauber and daub random dots
With TH Distress ink, ink the edges and over your entire piece until you are satisfied with the color depth. I avoided the snowman, but was not overly fussy.
Take a wet baby wipe and wipe over to help blend the ink and reveal your paint dots. You can see the right side is before the wipe, then on the left, like magic the dots appear as you wipe. I used the corner of the wipe with extra water and dipped it right into the inkpad to highlight around the snowman and any writing that wasn't showing up.
Add in a touch of strategic color, carrot nose, black hat, blue scarf, brown broom and arms .
NOTE: if you are mailing it may be wise to adhere your address on a clean white paper slip and glue it over the decorated area. This will help your postman, see it at a glance.
Some things, just aren't funny......

Crafty Fun Pocket Pages!

Karla here today to share this pocket page scrapbook layout. I used some of the cut apart journaling cards in the Shimelle True Stories paper collection, as well as cutting some of the papers into cards to fit my pockets. There are so many companies that are now including cut apart journaling cards in their paper lines, and I love that you instantly have coordinating cards and paper!

I created a tag using a 'Craft' journaling card and added some enamel dots to coordinate with the cute polka dot paper.

I cut a camera and Polaroid, and I punched some fun circles as well as hand cutting some banners- all from the papers! Don't be afraid to cut elements from your papers to create your own matching paper ephemera. A little blue ink around the edges pulled it all together. Perfect to document my daughter's crafty fun!

This cute quote, above, is a rub-on that I layered over some watercolored paper that my daughter had created with markers and a paintbrush.

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you're inspired to look at elements in your papers to see what other fun things you can do with them!

Handmade Christmas Tree ornament

Hand made Christmas ornaments add a certain charm to the decorated home. I used Kaiser Craft- Silver Bells for this one.
NOTE:If you have a tree die, USE IT FOR THIS. If your die is 100% symmetrical cut 5 or 6 pieces, If it is not, make sure when you cut your pieces you alternate pattern side up and pattern side down, so when you glue each side matches.
I do not have a die, so you can see above is my basic tree shape. I folded it in half and tweaked the edges with scissors.
Next I traced and cut 5 identical trees.
Then I made a crease down the center of each and glued the trees together to form one tree with many arms. Insert a 6 inch piece of ribbon for hanging before you secure the last piece.
A bit of white glue and glitter down each limb.
A tag that hides the loop for hanging
I wrapped a piece of silver thin ribbon around the entire tree, and added a Santa figure from the Ephemera pack. There you have it, a quick easy handmade ornament.
Good luck with your Tree careful out there
